Those Who Can Register an International Trademark in Israel

A person who has already registered a trademark in Israel or who has submitted an application to register a national trademark in Israel is eligible to apply to register the trademark as an international trademark.  Before September 2010, this was not possible to do, however since September 2010 when Israel joined the Madrid Protocol, it is possible. A trademark can be registered internationally, but it must first be registered in a member country, like Israel.  The application must first be submitted in Israel (for a trademark or national trademark), and then an application may also be submitted in order to protect the trademark in other countries (up to 116 countries).

The applicant must also be a citizen, resident or business owner in Israel.  The Israeli office can assist with the registration process for an international trademark.
